Some Enlightenment From Reading Articles on Clearwisdom
January 2, 2004 (Clearwisdom.net) Recently I read several very touching experience sharing
articles on Clearwisdom. Reading them helped me find my own omission. I started "digging out the roots" deeply, to look inward to find with what
motivation and objective that I had in coming to practice cultivation. In the
early stage of my studying of the Fa, I felt the book was very good, so I was
determined to cultivate. Looking at the surface, it seemed that I did not have
any attachment of pursuit. However, embedded in my sub-consciousness was a dirty
attachment that was not easy to identify. After I practiced for a period of
time, I felt it was so good that the Fa could help people to achieve Buddhahood,
to purify the body, to elevate the mind, and further to eliminate all tragedies.
What selfishness! These are just notions in one's sub-consciousness that one
acquires in this world, which are very hard to discover. "The formed notions will hinder and control your whole life. Human
notions are usually selfish and even worse, so thought karma will be
developed, while humans are controlled by the karma." (Zhuan Falun Volume
Two, "Buddha Nature," unofficial translation) So the notions that one developed usually cover up one's degenerated mind,
while one feels everything is all right and normal. Fundamentally speaking, it is just that we didn't want to change ourselves,
we were not willing to let go of our egos, and didn't wish to step out from the
human state. Further, we tried to find high-sounding excuses and reasons to
cover up ourselves, while claiming how firmly we believed in Master and Dafa. In
fact, this was simply to protect ourselves. We looked up to those regarded as
beautiful in our notions, and regarded what we wanted to obtain as the truth.
Almost all beings in the old cosmos are like this. After digging out these roots
hidden very deeply, I suddenly enlightened, and seemed to realize many Fa
principles and truly understood the real meaning of the word "cultivation." This
helped me understand how important it is to "look inward." I understand that our every step is guided by the Fa. If we happen to walk on
a side path, Master then helps us back to the right path, as if guiding a baby
to learn how to walk. Aren't we lucky to have such a rare opportunity? During the short time remaining, only by doing the three things that Master
requested well can we live up to Master's suffering and effort in offering
salvation to us.
