The police from Yangqu County, Shanxi Province broke into Ms. Tian Jiang's home in Wanbolin District at around 1:00 p.m. on June 3, 2010. Over a dozen policemen were involved, including Guan Jianxin from South Heping Road Police Station, Bao Hongbin from Wanbolin District Police Precinct, and Tian Guoxi from Yangqu County Police Department.

Ms. Tian was home alone at the time. In order to avoid being arrested, she climbed to the outer protection grid of the balcony located on the fourth floor, and stood on the thin rails. The police called in the fire brigade. They used the climbing frame to forcibly get her down to the ground and then arrested her.

During the process, the police and firemen kept telling the crowd of onlookers a falsehood that Ms. Tian was attempting suicide. Ms. Tian kept shouting, "The police persecute Falun Gong!"

She also said that she wasn't attempting suicide, but was forced into this situation by the police.

Mr. Tian's husband Zhang Baojun and mother Li Aiying went to South Heping Road Police Station and asked them to release her. However, policeman Bao Hongbin arrested her husband. Her mother's home was ransacked the day before. Mr. Zhang is now being held at Yangqu County Detention Center. Ms. Tian is being held at Taiyuan City Detention Center.

On June 4, 2010, a fabricated news story was broadcast, making it appear that Ms. Tian was attempting suicide and was rescued by the firemen. This was reported on Shanxi Province Economic Information TV Station, Shanxi Yellow River TV station and in Taiyuan Evening Newspaper.
