Case Description:

Mr. Xu Guanglin, 33, worked in Zhuru Hospital in Zhuru Town, Caidian District, Wuhan City, HUbei Province.  He began to pracitce Falun Gong in 1995.  After July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Gong.  In March 2000, he was sharing cultivation experience  with fellow practitioners when he was arrested.  He held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. As a result, he was force-fed by the guards in the detention center, and his nostril, esophagus, and stomach were severely injuried. In September 2000, he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and detained in Baofeng Road Prison in Wuhan City.  In the prison, he suffered inhuman mistreatment. He held a hunger strike for 90 days to protest the persecution. His became extremely weak and developed many diseases.  After he was released in 2002, he never recovered. He passed away on the morning of May 1, 2005.
