(Clearwisdom.net) It was a hot summer night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as practitioners gathered at Lake Michigan’s Bradford Beach Park. They gathered in remembrance of July 20, 1999, the date on which Jiang Zemin began the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Jiang was the head of the Chinese Communist Party at that time. Unfortunately, even though he has allegedly died, the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners is still going on today in China.
There was a large crowd trying to stay cool at the lake, and Milwaukee practitioners informed many people of the persecution and introduced them to the beauty of Falun Gong. They did so by passing out fliers to people in cars and those walking by. Banners and the word DAFA lit up in candles and lotus flowers attracted everyone who could see them.
Some people were shocked that a persecution this horrible could still be happening in the world today. Many expressed their disappointment in the Chinese regime’s outrageous and medieval behavior. A family of Chinese came over and gladly took fliers, as they listened carefully about the true compassion of Falun Dafa practitioners. They expressed hope that things would change soon in China.
As the sun started to set, the lotus flowers forming the word "DAFA" glowed a warm pink, and a few practitioners began demonstrating the exercises. Some children with their parents wanted to participate, and so a total of five children and several adults joined and learned all the exercises together. When righteous thoughts were being sent, they too wanted to try and send energy to help stop the crimes in China against Falun Gong.
One mother said, “I really have to take my child to the practice site so she can calm down like she has here, and learn this practice. I need to learn it with her. This is something great.” She then took information about the practice sites and told her friends to come with her the following week.
When darkness and cooler air set in, the practitioners gathered all their things and left with smiles, knowing that many people had a chance to learn more about Dafa, the Great Way.
