“Emergency Notice” Given Before the Staged Self-Immolation Incident on Tiananmen Square

April 20, 2012 |   By a practitioner in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Liaoning Province in China. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started its persecution of practitioners on July 20, 1999, some CCP officials have threatened my family and told them that they would have me closely monitored.

On the morning of January 23, 2001, Chinese New Year's Eve, a notice was issued at our workplace stating that all executives were to go to the office for an emergency meeting. It was the day prior to the Chinese New Year holiday. Usually we don’t need to go to work, or we could leave the office early. At approximately 11:30 a.m., they found out that I was going to visit my parents and was about to board a train. My entire family was stopped at the train station and I was ordered to return to my workplace.

As soon as I arrived at work, I noticed that all of the executives at the meeting were waiting outside the office building for me. The top executive held my hands and said, “We received notice that a big event will happen this afternoon on Tiananmen Square. I plead with you, please do not go to Beijing. If you go there, I will lose my job. I have delayed your trip to visit your parents, and will tell my driver to take your family to your parents’ home, so you can have a happy new year together.” When I asked him what the big event was, he said, “I don’t know what it is. The upper-level officials only said that a big event would happen and ordered us to stop practitioners from going to Beijing.”

That was the afternoon when the CCP staged the self-immolation on Tiananmen Square, and broadcast it around the world! I later learned that all intermediate-level officials had received the same notice that day.
