(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners from Beijing have recently been arrested. One of them, Mr. Deng Huaiying, died in a detention center.

Mr. Deng had served a long prison sentence, then died in a detention center

Mr. Deng was reported to the police on April 27, 2013, for distributing truth-clarification materials in the Haidian District of Beijing. He was illegally detained in the Haidian Detention Center until he passed away on May 15, 2013. His family is currently seeking the cause of his death through the local police.

According to reports published on the Minghui website, Mr. Deng had been illegally imprisoned in Qianjin Prison for practicing Falun Gong.

Qianjin Prison incarcerates male Falun Gong practitioners

Since 2000, a large number of practitioners have been illegally detained in Qianjin Prison. It is one of the major prisons in Beijing where heavily sentenced male Falun Gong practitioners are detained. The majority of them served--and are still serving--sentences ranging from five to more than 10 years. Among them are staff members of the Falun Dafa Research Society who were sentenced at the end of 1999, including Mr. Li Chang, Mr. Ji Liewu and Mr. Wang Zhiwen; practitioners from Qinghua University, including Mr. Meng Jun and Mr. Wang Weiyu; and many other practitioners, including Mr. Liang Minghua, Mr. Wu Jun, Mr. Gao Jianming, Mr. Qin Wei, Mr. Xu Huaquan, Mr. Wu Chao, Mr. Wu Yinchang, Mr. Li Yeliang, Mr. Zhang Yanbin, and Mr. Deng Huaiying.

Other practitioners recently arrested in Bejing

Ms. Yan Feng, Ms. Lin Fuhua, Ms. Yue, and Ms. Zhang were arrested on May 16, 2013, while clarifying the truth in the Changping District of Beijing. They are now in Changping Detention Center.

Practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiuping, a laundry service business owner, and her niece, Ms. Li Hua, were arrested around 5 a.m. on May 16, 2013, at her store in Xiangtang Village, Beijing. Their family didn't find out about their arrests until a few days later when they couldn't contact them. The family asked around, and eventually Ms. Zhang's landlord told them what had happened. Currently, no one knows the whereabouts of Ms. Zhang and her niece.
