(Minghui.org) In the wake of 60,000 criminal complaints raised against former Chinese Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong, over 20 practitioners in Melbourne, Australia have also filed criminal complaints against him.

They are urging the Chinese Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court to bring Jiang to justice for his genocidal campaign against Falun Gong in China.

The complaints accuse Jiang of unlawful imprisonment, depriving citizens of their constitutional right to freedom of belief, abuse of power, and many more crimes. Jiang initiated the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, and created the 610 Office, giving it the power to override the police and judicial system to carry out his directive.

More than 3,800 Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed tortured to death over the past 16 years. The actual toll is likely higher, because such information is tightly censored in China.

Practitioners in Melbourne who filed criminal complaints against former dictator, Jiang Zemin

A legal reform was implemented in China earlier this year which requires all criminal complaints be processed. Copies of 48,261 complaints from 60,156 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members were submitted to the Minghui website from the end of May to July 9, 2015. Due to heavy Internet censorship, not all Falun Gong practitioners in China have been able to send this information overseas, hence, the above statistic could be much higher.

Practitioners outside of China have also been filing criminal complaints against Jiang. Below are some brief accounts of those in Melbourne who have been subject to persecution in China.

Mr. Zhao from Qingdao, Shandong Province was detained and tortured by Chinese authorities for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on July 20, 1999 and in October of 1999. He was laid off by his employer when he was detained in October. He was unlawfully jailed in Guangzhou for two months in 2004.

Ms. An from Shenyang was imprisoned in Sujiatun Detention Center for one month in 2004. She was force-fed when she held a hunger strike to protest the unlawful detention. She became emaciated and very weak. Police sent her to a hospital and left her to her family to avoid responsibility.

Ms. Zhang from Wuhan was detained 17 times ranging from one day to nearly two years from November 1999 to June 2003. She was incarcerated in a forced labor camp from September 18, 2001 to June 2003. She was forced to do hard labor in the camp.

Mr. Liu from Shanghai was incarcerated in Shanghai Number One Forced Labor Camp and Number 3 Forced Labor Camp from March 2001 to July 2002. He was also detained several times before.

Ms. Liu was beaten by police and severely wounded for appealing for Falun Gong at Tiananmen Square in November 2000 with other practitioners. The detention center declined to accept her as her life was in danger from the beatings. Police took her back to a police substation and locked her in a metal cage for one week before releasing her. She was detained three more times after that.

Ms. Jiang is a reporter of an independent media company in Australia. Through failed attempts to get through customs in China, she found out she was listed on China's blacklist. Her father is a well-known scholar in Shanghai, China. She flew to Shanghai twice to visit her father but was refused entry when her father was in a critical situation. She was forced by Chinese customs to return to Melbourne.

More Falun Gong practitioners in Melbourne are planning to file criminal complaints against the former dictator, Jiang Zemin.
