(Minghui.org) There are many land disputes in China because people are no longer honest. Most often, justice is not on the side of the land owner, but on the side of those that try to confiscate the land.

Falun Dafa practitioners deal with such problems differently because they follow the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Let Go of Attachment to Fame and Profit

My father's land quota had to be reassessed after he passed away. Another family had two newborns last year and asked that their quota be increased. The village director asked us to return a quarter acre of land that had been assigned to my father, and we agreed.

But the family claimed that each child should have 0.15 acre and asked us for an additional 1,500 feet of land.

However, we had already fertilized and planted that land and asked them to compensate us for what we had spent. They did not want to pay us and asked us to get the village to reimburse us.

My wife and I both practice Falun Gong. Whenever we run into trouble, we first think about Master told us:

“When your self-interest is taken by others, you will not go to compete and fight for it like others.” (Zhuan Falun)

We decided not fight for it.

At first I was unhappy because I had worked that field and saw the plants grow very well, especially compared to what they grew. I still felt that I was mistreated.

I then realized that I had to get rid of this attachment completely.

I thought of what Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, said and no longer thought that this land should be ours. I took it lightly.

Whenever there is a land dispute, the director of our village tells those involved, “Look at practitioners. When their interests were infringed upon, they did not fight back and hurt others. They did not give me any trouble. They are the ones that let go of personal fame and profit!”

Conflict over a Wall

My relative told me that my neighbor built his wall, without discussing it with me, in my yard while I was out of town.

I thought that if I fought back and asked them to return the land, my neighbor would have to take down his wall, which would damage our relationship and result in a loss for them.

I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Master Li said,

“If you compete and fight like an ordinary person, you are an ordinary person. If you outdo him, you are even worse than that ordinary person.” (Zhuan Falun)

I decided to let my neighbor occupy this land, told my relative not to worry about it, and that I would deal with it.

On my return home I noticed that this neighbor did build a wall on my land. I could see that he felt guilty. I did not want to make trouble, so I just talked to him as usual and he felt comfortable enough to talk to me again.

I am thankful to Master. Li that I can cultivate in Dafa. I have been able to let go of selfishness. I can be thoughtful and be a better person. I am proud of this and feel blessed.

This might explain why many ordinary people, as well as government agents, including police officers and agents from the 610 Office, who've participated in the persecution have changed their minds about Falun Gong. They now support and even protect practitioners.

It is because they find that practitioners truly live by the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They see there is hope because of us.
