Recent Falun Dafa Events: “It is the Celebration of Human Dignity and Conscience”

(Minghui.org) Practitioners of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) around the world have held public events for more than a decade to raise public awareness of the brutal persecution in China, calling for help in stopping it, and telling people about the essence of the ancient Chinese cultivation practice. We report on these events and publish newsletters to keep our readers informed.

In this newsletter, we report on ten events that took place in Europe and North America.

U.K.

Practitioners from London held a 6-hour activity at Trafalgar Square on August 27, 2016, collecting petition signatures.

Elleen (in green) was attracted by the peaceful field of the exercises demonstration. “They are so different,” she said, “They pass a clear message in a peaceful way. You can join the meditation with them, and talk to them for more information. You can sense their honesty.”

Elleen, a local citizen, first encountered Falun Gong a few years ago in front of the Chinese embassy in London. “A nice lady gave me a flyer, and asked me if I wanted to sign the petition.”

“Her dignity touched me. I saw the peaceful and dignified resistance against the dictatorship,” Elleen said, “Their courage is noble, and should be supported. Everybody should know what is happening to them.”

As to Falun Gong's peaceful resistance, Elleen believes that it is a “Celebration of human dignity and conscience.”

“This power comes from compassion,” Elleen highly praised practitioners.

Connor, an American student majoring in political science, believes that the more people that know about the persecution, the sooner it will stop.

A college professor from India had never heard about Falun Gong but said he believes that the persecution is unacceptable.

A similar event was held in Liverpool, U.K., on August 21. Many people signed a petition to condemn the persecution.

Czech

Practitioners from more than ten European countries held a march in Prague on August 24. The Falun Gong Tian Guo Marching Band performed in the march.

The march began at Wenceslas Square and passed by the Municipal House, Prague Astronomical Clock, Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and ended at the presidential residence.

The march drew a lot of attention. Many people wondered what Falun Gong is, and why the Chinese government is persecuting it.

Olga from Russia was one of them. “I was a media reporter in Russia, and I know what it’s like in a communist country,” she said to a practitioner. “I felt strange when I saw the words on the banners in the march that read 'Stop the Persecution.' But when I read that there were more Falun Gong practitioners than Communist Party members in China, I realized why the government launched the persecution.”

“The government propaganda brainwashes people. It is very important that you expose the truth in this march. It is very important that more people are aware of this persecution,” she encouraged practitioners, “We need to speak out the truth.”

Poland

In the parade during the 10^th Multiple-Culture Festival in Warsaw, Poland, on August 28, 2016, practitioners demonstrated the beauty of Falun Gong for the spectators.

Performances by the Tian Guo Marching Band, fairy lady dance team, float, and the dragon dance team, gave people deep impressions of traditional Chinese culture.

Grzegorz Kaslupski said he and his wife wanted to listen to more performances by the Tian Guo Marching Band. “You cannot hear such beautiful music very often,” Kaslupski said, “You see, I am looking up Falun Gong on my phone now. I am trying to find out how the music is related to Falun Gong. Look at their smiles. Those are smiles from a different world. I will find out more about Falun Gong.”

After the parade, practitioners demonstrated the exercises and collected signatures on a petition calling for an end to the persecution.

Romania

Practitioners from Targoviste, Romania, held a signature campaign at Chindia Park on September 3, 2016. The event was warmly supported by the local citizens.

Switzerland

At the Asian Festival held in Bern, Switzerland, from August 26-28, 2016, local Falun Gong practitioners introduced this ancient Chinese practice to the tourists and exposed the brutal persecution of the practice in China.

U.S.A.

Practitioners in Auckland, California, during the mid-autumn festival celebration on August 27-28, told the public about the persecution in China. At the event, almost 1,000 people signed the petition condemning the persecution.

Practitioners also took the opportunity to call on the Chinese fellows to recognize the evil nature of the Communist Party. More than 20 Chinese people quit the Communist Party with help from practitioners at the celebration.

Practitioners in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania held a signature collection campaign in Chinatown on August 27, 2016, exposing the state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China, and calling for help to end it.

Practitioner Ms. Zhang spoke at the event and told the public her experiences of being tortured in China. Ms. Zhang was imprisoned for eight years because of her belief in Falun Gong. In prison, she was beaten with electric batons, deprived of sleep, and tied up onto an iron frame for a long time. When she started a hunger strike, she was force fed.

Practitioner Mr. Fu revealed the details of forced organ harvesting in China in his speech and called upon the Chinese fellows to abandon the Communist Party.

At the Sweet Corn Festival in Urbana, Illinois, on August 26-27, many Chinese students had a chance to learn what Falun Gong really is.

As soon as local Falun Gong practitioners set up the booth seven Chinese students approached them, and wanted to learn the details about Falun Gong and the persecution. Once they learned the facts, they asked practitioners to help them quit the Communist Party.

One Chinese student said that he often read Falun Gong materials when he was in China. He knew clearly about the propaganda and the persecution. He also asked practitioners for more materials. “I want to give your materials to my friends, who don't know much about this,” he said.

Canada

Western Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto held a “Great Wall of Truth” in the downtown area over the past weekend. They held banners that exposed the persecution and collected signatures.
