(Minghui.org) Mr. Song Yuegang was tried in his hospital room by the Xihu District Court on December 22, 2016, for his belief in Falun Gong.

The bailiffs had to hold him up when he collapsed during the trial. The nurse checked his blood pressure, which was very high (157/116).

The trial was conducted in the hospital as Judge Zhao Yulan wanted to close the case before the end of the year.

Mr. Song was first tried on December 13, 2016, but it was adjourned when he suddenly collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital. He'd been on a hunger strike for 34 days to protest the illegal detention.

Mr. Song's attorney requested that he be released on bail, but it was denied.

Mr. Song was accused of filing criminal complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong, despite the fact that filing such complaints is a legal act.

Paper currency with printed messages about Falun Gong was taken from Mr. Song's home and used as “evidence” against him

Mr. Song's attorney shortened his defense because of Mr. Song's situation, and the trial ended without a verdict.

Mr. Song, 36, from Benxi City, was arrested on June 28, 2016. Police ransacked his home and confiscated 9,000 yuan.

During a meeting with his attorney on November 17, Mr. Song stated that he was innocent and would protest the persecution by going on hunger strike. He was anxious to be released as he must provide and care for his 20-month-old daughter, his pregnant wife of seven months, and his elderly mother-in-law.
