(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Lin Baozhen Arrested
Ms. Lin Baozhen was arrested on April 24, 2017.
2. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Bai Yanbin Detained
Ms. Bai Yanbin was arrested on April 11, 2017, and was later subjected to a 15-day detention. However, she was not released and is still held at a detention center.
3. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Guo Xiuqing Arrested
Ms. Guo Xiuqing was arrested at her home by officers from the Huancheng Police Station on April 27, 2017. Her Falun Gong books and many copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party were confiscated. She was released that evening.
4. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Yurong and Ms. Ma Qiulan Harassed
Ms. Li Yurong and Ms. Ma Qiulan were harassed by officers from the Jinhaozhuang Police Station and Jin Dajun, an officer from Jinhaozhuang Village, on April 28, 2017.
Ms. Li's home was ransacked and her calendars, paintings, and a picture of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated. The police also destroyed the wall hanging outside their front door that contained a poem about Falun Gong.
5. [Huaian City, Jiangsu Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Zhang Yongzhen, her husband Mr. Ye Yuhong, and her sister Ms. Zhang Zaoye were arrested in August 2016.
Ms. Zhang Yongzhen's home was ransacked and many informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong were confiscated.
Her sister was released three days later, and her husband was released on bail after one month.
Ms. Zhang Yongzhen was tried at the Xuyi Court in April 2017, and is being held at the Huaian Detention Center.
6. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Ruihua Detained
Ms. Li Ruihua was arrested by plainclothes officers from the Huanggezhuang Police Station on April 29, 2017, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
She is still being held at the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center.

7. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yue Sheguo and Another Practitioner Detained
Mr. Yue Sheguo and another practitioner were arrested by officers from the Zhangxibao Police Station on April 26, 2017. Mr. Yue's home was ransacked and many personal belongings were confiscated.
The police also harassed his family.
Mr. Yue and the other practitioner refused to reveal their identities.
The other practitioner was severely beaten by the police, and they were both taken to a detention center.
The guards at the detention center refused to accept the practitioner because he failed the physical examination. He was released after being forced to pay 1,500 yuan.
8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Guohua Detained
Ms. Chen Guohua was arrested by officers from the Bapujie Police Station on April 18, 2017, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was held at Dongxihu Women's No. 1 Detention Center for 15 days.
9. [Guidong County, Hunan Province] Mr. Guo Changcai and Ms. Deng Yueqiong Leave Home to Avoid Persecution
Mr. Guo Changcai's 90-year-old mother was harassed by officers from the Pule Town 610 Office and the Shatian Town Police Station on April 24, 2017. The police wanted to arrest Mr. Guo but he was not at home.
Mr. Guo had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
Officers from the Daqian Town 610 Office and Chengguan Division went to Ms. Deng Yueqiong's home on April 24, 2017, but failed to arrest her. Ms. Deng had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
10. [Jiuquan City, Gansu Province] Ms. Liu Julan Arrested
Ms. Liu Julan was recently arrested by officers from the Xincheng District Domestic Security Division for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.
She was taken to a detention center for a 15-day detention, but she was not accepted as she had high blood pressure.
11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Chunjing Sentenced
Ms. Wang Chunjing, 53, was arrested on April 21, 2016, and sentenced to a three-year prison term. She appealed, but the Dalian Intermediate Court upheld the original sentence.
She was taken to the Liaoning Women's Prison on April 25, 2017.
12. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xue Guorui Sentenced
Ms. Xue Guorui was sentenced to a three-year prison term on April 21, 2017.

13. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Bao Shuqin, Ms. Meng Qinghuan, Mr. Wang Sanquan, and Xiao Meng were arrested on April 15, 2017. Xiao Meng was released due to high blood pressure.
The three other practitioners were held at the Xindi Detention Center.
Ms. Bao was transferred to another detention center three days later. Ms. Meng and Mr. Wang were detained for 10 days.

14. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Du Mei Arrested
Ms. Du Mei was arrested at her home by officers from the Babaishang Police Department on April 29, 2017, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Chinese Communist Party.
She was held at the Longfeng Detention Center for 7 days.
15. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Yudong and His Wife Arrested and Tortured
Mr. Wang Yudong and his wife Ms. Zhu Xiumin from Daqing City went to visit Ms. Liu Mingying in Qiqihar on March 21, 2017. They were arrested by officers who were waiting outside Ms. Liu’s home.
Mr. Wang and Ms. Zhu were held in a police station for 60 hours, and then transferred to Qiqihar Detention Center on March 23. They have been held there for more than a month. Both of them have been tortured.
Ms. Zhu went on a hunger strike on March 27 and was forced fed. The guards handcuffed her hands behind her back and bound them with the shackles on her feet. She was kept in this position for eight days. She couldn’t move at all and had to completely depend on other detainees’ care.
16. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Cheng Yufa Arrested
Mr. Cheng Yufa was arrested while he was out driving on the afternoon of April 17, 2017.
The police ransacked Mr. Cheng’s home and confiscated his Falun Dafa books, other related materials and his car. His wife was taken to the police station and interrogated for one day.
Mr. Cheng is being held in the Daming County Detention Center.
17. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liang Wende’s Appeal Hearing Held Secretly
Ms. Liang Wende was sentenced to a five-and-a-half year prison term on December 13, 2016, with a fine of 10,000 yuan. She has filed an appeal.
It is believed that Luzhou Intermediate’s Court heard Ms. Liang’s case on April 20, 2017, without the presence of her family or attorney. The details were not known until now.
18. [Beijing] Ms. Xia Shufang Detained for Four Months
Ms. Xia Shufang’s daughter and attorney visited her on April 25, 2017, for the second time in the Miyun Detention Center. Ms. Xia said that her state of mind was stable.
Her attorney once met the procurator who said her case would be submitted to the court soon if Ms. Xia did not write a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Xia was arrested on January 2, 2017, by officers from the Taishitun Police Station. She has been held in the Miyun Detention Center for four months.
19. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Jing’s Case Submitted to Procuratorate Again
Xinbin County Procuratorate returned Ms. Sun Jing’s case to Xinbin County Police Department twice. The police department supposedly released Ms. Sun unconditionally. However, the police department submitted her case to the procuratorate again.
The procuratorate met Ms. Sun’s husband to verify the so-called evidence.
20. [Beijing] Ms. Liu Yanmei Tortured in Detention Center
Ms. Liu Yanmei has been held in the Tongzhou Detention Center for five months. Her hands were cuffed and her feet shackled. Her body was covered with wounds and bruises. A lot of her hair was pulled out. Her scalp was injured and festered.
Her attorney went to visit her twice but the detention center refused his visitation.
