(Minghui.org) In a protracted effort to bring charges against a Falun Gong practitioner, the Cangshan District Domestic Security Division in Fuzhou City resubmitted Mr. Zhang Guoli’s case to the Cangshan District Procuratorate on February 27, 2017. Mr. Zhang’s family is calling for his release.

Mr. Zhang, 33, retired from the military in 2014 after serving for 12 years. He mailed letters to his former colleagues in December 2016 about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). However, one of the letter recipients reported him to the authorities. The police came to Mr. Zhang’s workplace on December 13, 2016, and arrested him. Mr. Zhang’s home was ransacked, and he was taken to the Fuzhou City No. 2 Detention Center that evening.

The Cangshan District Domestic Security Division submitted Mr. Zhang’s case to the procuratorate on December 20, 2016. The procuratorate later returned the case for further investigation.

Mr. Zhang's wife filed legal complaints to the Supreme Procuratorate in June 2015 against former CCP head Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. The Supreme Procuratorate returned the letter to the Cangshan District Domestic Security Division.

Police went to the military unit Mr. Zhang had served in to investigate him. The head of the unit ordered the officials and their family members to write a statement guaranteeing that would not have any contact with Mr. Zhang or associate with Falun Gong.

When Mr. Zhang and his wife tried to explain the goodness of Falun Gong to high-level officials and why it was being persecuted, they were reported to the local police. The couple's cell phones are now monitored and their home is under surveillance.
