(Minghui.org) Master said,

“When it comes to newer students, you can't be too hasty with them since they need to go through a process of improving their understanding. If of their own initiative they offer to do something, then let them. But if they don't want to do something out of their own initiative, I don't think we can compel them to do anything, since they are still newer students after all.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York”)

I have seen new practitioners being pressured to work on Falun Dafa projects in my area of China in recent years and it has sometimes resulted in their being arrested. This can be traumatic for such practitioners and we need to give them time to learn Dafa principles before asking them to clarify the facts about the benefits of cultivating Falun Dafa.

What follows are some examples.

A female practitioner, Ling, had been practicing for less than a year, and was led by a veteran practitioner to distribute and post Falun Dafa informational materials. Ling is introverted and does not talk much, so fellow practitioners didn't know her cultivation state. However, a veteran practitioner said she was solid and reliable, and took her many places to clarify the truth with him.

Ling thought that doing such work was cultivation, and kept busy with informing people about Dafa. One day the police illegally arrested her. Eventually, her family got her released through their connections.

Instead of letting Ling study the Fa and cultivate herself, another veteran practitioner asked her to make and distribute informational materials. Perhaps Ling lacked righteous thoughts and did not exercise caution when on the telephone because she was arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison.

Veteran practitioners should think about the safety and the maturity of new practitioners. New practitioners need to study the Fa and raise their cultivation level before going out to clarify the truth. Cultivation is solemn. There is a process that takes time. It is very easy to get in trouble without a good foundation.

Another new practitioner, Ming, was often prompted by two veteran practitioners to distribute informational material with them. When other practitioners tried to stop them, the veteran practitioners said that Ming improved very fast, had righteous thoughts, and helped many people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Being new to the practice, Ming's understanding of the Fa was rather shallow. When the veteran practitioners praised her, she was blinded by her attachments, and thought that distributing Dafa information was cultivation. Therefore, she also often clarified the truth on her own.

One evening, a veteran practitioner took Ming to a rural area to distribute materials. Someone reported them to the police and they were arrested. The veteran practitioner somehow managed to get away, but Ming didn't escape and was later sentenced to three years in prison.

A young man named Huang who had been practicing Falun Dafa for less than two years accompanied a veteran practitioner to tell people the facts about Falun Dafa. Huang was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison, which was difficult for him to accept.

After his release, he burst into tears when he met up with other practitioners and said, “I'm so young. I didn't expect to be jailed for two years because of Falun Dafa.”

Before Wang had finished reading Zhuan Falun even once, a veteran practitioner took her to distribute informational posters and flyers. Wang was caught and sentenced to 4 years in prison.

How much understanding of the Fa principles did Wang have when she hadn't even read through Zhuan Falun? And no one knows if she was really cultivating. That being the case, mishaps could easily happen to her. Without righteous thoughts, it would be difficult to save sentient beings, no matter how much Dafa work one does.

There have been many cases like the ones described, and they have had a negative impact on new practitioners and their families. The CCP has been spreading false rumors about Falun Dafa for many years, and if something bad happens to new practitioners, it creates more negative impressions about Dafa.

Veteran practitioners should have a deep understanding of the Fa principles. We should be rational, encourage new practitioners to study the Fa more, and pass their xinxing tests. We should give them time to mature in cultivation and not rush them into doing Dafa work too soon.
